Καρλόβασι

Karlovasi is the second town of Samos, on the north-west coast, and the seat of departments of the University of the Aegean — which gives it a student population and a steady rental market alongside the holiday one. It is made up of distinct quarters: the port at Limin, the neoclassical Meseo and Palaio Karlovasi with its tanneries and the walk up to Potami waterfalls. Prices are consistently below the north-coast resorts for comparable floor area. Many of the neoclassical buildings are listed or lie inside protected zones, so permitted interventions are limited — we confirm the status of each building before it is offered.
